Depending on which statistics you read (or believe) 30-40% of Xbox 360 owners have had it happen… the dreaded RROD. MS decided to extend the warranty by 2 years after thousands of Xboxes decided to give up life just after their first birthday. I had mine repaired under warranty when mine decided to pack up on its 13th month, and upon receiving it back noticed that the motherboard now has a revised heatsink layout (more about this here).
For those who are out of warranty, or just love modging with their Xbox innards, heres some good news. Get the RROD and fix it yourself. Without towels!

Yeah OK this isn’t new but there might be someone out there that might not have seen it yet so I’m posting it anyway. Its a working Xbox 360 in a laptop case with built in IR and video camera and loads of other gubbins…and I want one.
The inventor is Benjamin J. Heckendorn and his site can be found here: http://benheck.com.
He’s also built a wii laptop and PS stuff, but we won’t go there…
Having trouble finding your Xbox 360 in a darkened room? Probably not, but the Glow Pearl Case from XCM is pointless and great all at the same time and if you don’t mind voiding your warranty and have the time to spare, will make your Xbox stand out from the crowd. Well, with the lights off anyway.
